WHO WE ARE

The Pacific Paranormal Research Society (PPRS) is a husband and wife paranormal investigation team operating out of Portland, Oregon.

We got our start in Oregon as members with our good friends Jake and Jennifer in the Phantom Seekers until 2001.

We both hold full time jobs, and we are truly just normal people who rub elbows with the paranormal. Investigations and education for us is not just a hobby, it is our life's passion.
If we could do this full time, we would!

PERSONAL BIOS

Todd, originally hails from Southern Indiana, spent some time in San Diego, and has been investigating in Oregon for over 5 years. He holds degrees in Anthropology from Indiana State University and obtained his Masters degree at Northern Arizona University.
As a professional Archaeologist, Anthropologist, and Osteologist, he is the Scientist, Technical Advisor and Historical Researcher of our team.

Martina is a transplant from Los Angeles, California and has lived and investigated the paranormal in Oregon for over 10 years. She has had training in parapsychology, psychology, and bereavement.

As our personal "Lighthouse" for communicating with ghosts and spirits, Martina utilizes technical equipment results and recorded historical facts to validate her psychic impressions. She is also the Webmistress, Promotional and Educational Director of our team.

We are not Ghostbusters, Demonologists, or Psychologists.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We believe that when dealing with the paranormal, a good balance is necessary.
We utilize both the psychic and scientific methods during our investigations, with our main focus on the scientific evidence we receive. We believe that in many respects, what most consider paranormal in nature, is to us a very natural state of being, especially when dealing with loved ones from the other side.

We believe it is important to incorporate healthy skepticism for every paranormal investigation. Do not take this skepticism the wrong way. We have to rule out any natural phenomenon before agreeing that something paranormal may be taking place. There are many natural factors that can disguise themselves as paranormal activity such as the sounds of a house settling, water pipes, drafts, bad electrical wiring, and in some cases, the current psychological makeup of the household. All of these facets must be considered before coming to a paranormal conclusion.

OUR GOAL

To prove or disprove accounts of paranormal activity from a particular location, and to gather as much evidence as possible to support these accounts.

PPRS is very active on educating our clients and the community on what we have learned so far about investigating, ghosts and hauntings. We have taught classes on Ghost Hunting at Lane Community College in Eugene and Portland Community College for over 3 years. There's always something new to learn for us, and we love to share what we have discovered. Nobody, including us, knows everything there is to know about the paranormal - a subject not quite science but more than pure fiction.

Knowledge is power!

WHAT WE DO

Our specialty has become the investigation of private residences and businesses in the Pacific Northwest that believe that they may have ghosts. Your confidentiality is important to us.

We try to do investigations "for fun" at notable haunted locations when our time allows. These 'fun' ghostly field trips allow us to hone and develop our investigation and education skills so that we may serve our clients and students better.

HOW FAR DO YOU TRAVEL FOR AN INVESTIGATION REQUEST?

We both work full time and teach classes each term, so investigation schedules must be planned in advance. Right now we are able to travel as far south as Eugene, and as far north as Ridgefield, Washington.

IS THERE AN INVESTIGATION FEE?

No, there is NEVER a fee for investigations or collected evidence/synopsis following an investigation.

If you feel the need to donate to our cause, it is appreciated, but NEVER required.

Remember that what an investigation entails is done by us on a VOLUNTEER basis . Sometimes we are just too busy to fulfill all investigation or email requests.

Please be aware that even though investigations are free, we are not immediate members of the Hilton family.

So, unfortunately, we won't be able to fly off to San Diego or Boston to fulfill your investigation requests.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Requested investigations normally take 2 hours.

You can expect us to gather some information from you during a pre-interview before the actual investigation begins. We will also speak with you via email or over the phone before coming out to investigate.

Prior to investigating your home or business, we will be glad to show you the equipment we will be using during the pre-investigation setup. . The equipment we use is never harmful to the environment, people, or pets.

Following the investigation, you will receive an Investigation Synopsis, usually through email. This will contain any equipment readings or interesting occurrences, as well as any anomalous photos and EVP's that we may have captured at your home or place of business.

Investigation Synopsis' normally take 1-2 weeks to receive depending on the amount of evidence collected we have to go through and our current schedule. We ask that you be patient during this time, as we could have many hours of evidence that we have to filter and study.

Sometimes investigations can increase paranormal activity. This is not unusual, but neither is it anything we can predict or control. If this is not something you are prepared to deal with, then please think about trying another option first.

Some issues can be solved by emailing your concerns to a representative of a particular group that you feel comfortable with. You'd be surprised how easy it is to set boundaries with a resident ghost to lessen or even stop unwanted paranormal activity without even having a full-blown investigation at your property. In fact, trying this approach first can be surprisingly more effective than having investigators possibly stir things up.

HOW DO I CHOOSE AN INVESTIGATOR?

Some groups may be a better "fit" than others for your situation. This depends on many factors such as whether or not you want a larger group or a smaller one investigating your property, your location in reference to the location of the investigators themselves, and if you are comfortable with a group's investigation techniques and belief system. A group that functions closer to your property will certainly be able to fit you into their schedule a lot quicker than one that lives 100 miles away.

It is recommended that before choosing an investigative group or team for your situation, that you take personal responsibility and ask as many questions as possible.

Will they charge you a fee for your investigation, and any reports and/or evidence received? How many representatives will they be bringing? Will they be confidential? What are their investigative methods and procedures?

If you feel uncomfortable with any of the responses that you receive from a particular group, then that group is probably not the one for you.

Also, don't feel bad if after contacting someone, that you think about it and change your mind about having them visit. Having "ghost hunters" come to your house or businesss can be a stressful decision for some people, especially if others in your network of family and friends do not approve. Remember, it's YOUR choice.

ARE THERE OTHER MEMBERS OR AFFILIATIONS OF THE PPRS?

There are only 2 members of the Pacific Paranormal Research Society, and that is Todd and Martina. We will not be adding any other members at this time.
We DO work happily with many other groups in our local area that we maintain healthy relationships with.

ARE YOU AVAILABLE FOR LECTURES OR APPEARANCES?

Contact us to discuss what you had in mind and we'll go from there.

Bad Kitty Notice!

The PPRS does not support nor condone plagerism, underhandedness, or un-sportsmanlike/narcissistic behavior that crops up from time to time within our ever-growing ghost hunting community (and beyond). You can expect us to quietly shy away from groups and individuals who have shown this behavior. Don't invite confrontations- just don't do it.
