Old Wheeler Hotel
495 Highway 101,
Wheeler, OR 97147.
1-877-OLD HOTEL (1-877-653-4683)
Investigation Results: No EVP although requested.
Some EMF meter activity in the basement area. Winston stated
to us that before they opened the hotel, he saw the figure of
a tall man, dressed in black pioneer clothes, reflected in one
of the large mirrors in the sitting room upstairs. He got to
see the figure long enough before it faded away. The apparition
was not looking at Winston, but studying something else.
Haunted?: Traveling spirits, and residual imprints
only.

This is one of those places where the memories stay with you
for a very long time. I missed this place as soon as we drove
away.
There are a lot of visitors traveling through here causing
light paranormal activity, but this is not a hotbed full of
ghosts. Actually that is a good thing; if it was, it would take
away from the serene beauty and romanticism of this beautiful
place. However, you won’t be disappointed if you take
pictures around this location, as well as around the other eclectic,
“magical” shops that envelope the hotel.
You could not ask for more generous and gracious hosts than
Winston & Maranne Laszlo. These people were so genuine and
wonderful that it is no surprise that they have an array of
visiting spirits who follow them around and hang out there.
Upon our arrival into our room, we were surprised immediately
by a visitor- Maranne had hung up a large stuffed ghost on one
of the towel racks of the bathroom as a special welcome!
Most of the pictures where we received activity were down in
the basement, which is closed to the general public (so don’t
ask to go down there ). Once in a while we felt a cold breeze
go by us in the upstairs hallways, but nothing outwardly unusual.
The indoor hallways are great traveling areas, and we were surprised
that we didn’t receive any photos there as we felt presences
there often; also of great interest to the spirits are the foyer
and the staircase. Maybe they have a great appreciation of antiques?

** HEARTFELT Thank You's to Winston and Maranne Laszlo of the
Old Wheeler Hotel (the most awesome host and hostess!), and
to David Dillon of the North Coast Citizen for such a fantastic
and fair write-up, and for not making fun of our little “hobby.”
