Go on a treasure hunt in nature | Local News

LAWRENCEBURG — The Tri-State Antique Market kicks off the 2022 season on Sunday, May 1 at the Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds.

Now in its 37th year, the market has become a popular destination for collectors, thrift shops and DIY decorators who like to find their next great treasure the old-fashioned way, in nature! No need for an internet connection, no delivery costs and no worries that the object does not correspond to the description, these are the advantages of treasure hunting in the great outdoors.

With an ever-changing range of 200 vendors at each monthly market selling a wide range of antiques and vintage goods, there are bound to be discoveries made for everyone, and the only click needed will be the click in their heels.

Buying vintage and retro items is trendy and can be profitable, and in the spirit of going green, it’s a smart choice for the environment. Antique and vintage items also tend to be durable, hence the saying “they don’t make it the way they used to”.

Furniture, jewelry, vintage clothing and accessories, pottery, kitchenware, militaria, vinyl records, pop culture memorabilia and more are on sale at each monthly market.

Shopping trends have changed with the advent of online auction sites and virtual marketplaces, but to buy vintage items, there’s no better way than up close and in person.

The Tri-State Antiques Market is always held on the first Sunday of the month from May through October. The market is located at the Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds, a five-acre facility in southeast Indiana, about a mile west of I-275 exit 16. The exhibition center is wheelchair accessible, has plenty of free parking lots, modern toilets and shaded rest areas. Local food dealers will also be on hand during market hours.

Official market hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with “early bird” shoppers admitted when the vendor sets up at 6 a.m.

$4 adult admission is charged at all times with pets supervised and children are welcome at no charge. More than half of market vendors exhibit indoors or under cover, so the event takes place rain or shine.
