CASPER, Wyo. – The Wyoming veteran-founded organization “Hunting with Heroes” will be honored with the 2022 Armed Forces Service Hero of the Year award, a press release from the American Red Cross of Colorado and Wyoming announced Thursday. .
Dan Currah and Colton Sasser of Hunting with Heroes will receive the award at the American Red Cross Rocky Mountain Heroes Night in Colorado and Wyoming.
“Hunting with Heroes is a Wyoming organization founded by veterans for veterans,” the ad reads. “Their mission is to give back to our country’s disabled veterans by providing unique hunting, fishing and outdoor experiences. Additionally, they provide a progressive healing environment where veterans with disabilities are welcomed and supported – a community where they can find hope no matter what battles they continue to fight physically or emotionally.

The Red Cross said its Rocky Mountain Heroes Soirée aims to celebrate “the spirit of the Red Cross as exemplified by the heroes saving lives in Colorado and Wyoming,” noting that the Red Cross was born during the Civil War through Clara Barton’s care for soldiers.
“Today, we continue to serve the American military community from the moment a service member takes an oath to navigate life as a veteran,” the statement said. “The mission of Hunting with Heroes parallels the Red Cross’s wish to help service members, veterans, their families and caregivers prepare for, manage and meet the challenges of service.
The American Red Cross Rocky Mountain Heroes of Colorado and Wyoming will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 19 at the Seawell Ballroom, located at 1350 Arapahoe St. in Denver.
